ENGAGE

1. Alfred Nobel created the Nobel prize award in 1895 to honor the best contributions to humankind. Who is someone you know that contributed to humankind? What did they do?

2. What are some ways that you can contribute to your school, community, or society to make it a better place?

3. The Nobel prize is not one single prize, but five separate prizes in chemistry, literature, peace, physics, and physiology or medicine. The 2020 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the World Food Programme for their fight against starvation and hunger. How can you join in on the fight against starvation and hunger? What can you do to help those suffering from starvation in your community?

TEACH

Students will be able to examine the contributions of notable Nobel Prize winners such as Albert Einstein, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., Obama, The Red Cross, and Malala Yousafzai by reading written biographies and watching video clips to complete a group presentation on a Nobel Prize winner.
